PhD in Engineering Sciences, Mention in Mathematical Modeling

Applications are received twice a year to begin studies either in the fall (starts beginning of March) or spring term (starts end of August). The application process is fully online.

For studies beginning in the 2025 academic year.

It is recommended that all foreign applicants apply early (by the end of October) so that, if accepted, they can begin the visa process as soon as possible. Due to a recent change in visa issuance procedures, the process is taking extended periods of time.

Important for ANID Scholarship Applicants.

It is strongly recommended that each applicant applies for the Doctoral Scholarships offered by ANID. The Doctoral program will sponsor all accepted applications. The deadline to apply for the ANID Doctoral Scholarships is Friday, November 15, 2024, at 1:00 p.m. (Chilean continental time). Applications will be accepted during this period. However, it is not guaranteed that the necessary documentation for the ANID Doctoral Scholarship application will be provided before the competition deadline due to internal processing times. Application requirements:

Applicants will be required to submit the following supporting documents:

  • Diploma or certificate of bachelor’s degree, master’s degree or equivalent, in applied mathematics or a related area.
  • Curriculum vitae or resume.
  • Academic transcripts. The Program Committee may condition acceptance to registering for specific courses or seminars at the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the University of Chile. International students should try to include the grading scale used at the academic institutions where their degrees were obtained. Optionally, applicant’s may include certificates of relative ranking among their class.
  • Letters of recommendation from at least two academics.
  • Letter of intention/motivation.
